 Return to Haiti! FAITHFUL PATH INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES WILL BE GOING ON A MEDICAL MISSION TRIP TO HAITI July 15-22, 2012
Fort Liberte Center of Excellence Complex Faithful Path will establish three centers that care about health, education and well-being of citizens in Fort Liberté, Haiti. There will be a medical , an educational and a community center built with the purpose of providing professional and state-of-the art services to the local Fort Liberté communities. – Medical Ambulatory Center - Equipped with two operating rooms to the meet the surgical needs of patients, Pharmacy included. – Joint High- and Vocational Schools - School will incorporate formal education and vocational training. There will be space and equipment to encourage Technology Innovation. We intend to educate at least 120 fulltime students. Graduated students will be prepared to enter tertiary education or taught skills that can be applied locally. – Community Center / Public Space - The Ministries will facilitate adult educational classes, economic and employment seminars, and self-help classes to learn basic hygiene, first aid similar courses.
Haiti counts 15,200 primary schools , of which 90% are non-public and managed by the communities, religious organizations or NGOs. The enrollment rate for primary school is 67%, of which less than 30% reach 6th grade. Secondary schools enroll 20% of eligible-age children. There is a List of schools in Haiti. The educational system of Haiti is based on the French system. Higher education is provided by universities and other public and private institutions. It is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education. School attendance was 64% in 2000 |

Education levels in Haiti are low. Haiti’s literacy rate of about 53 percent (55 percent for males and 51 percent for females) falls well below the 90 percent average literacy rate for Latin American and Caribbean countries. The country faces shortages in educational supplies and qualified teachers, and the rural population remains underrepresented in the country’s classrooms. Currently, most Haitian schools are private rather than state-funded. International private schools (run by Canada, France, or the United States) and church -run schools educate 90 percent of students.
